श्रीगंगानगर। मई महीने की शुरुआत के साथ ही श्रीगंगानगर जिला भीषण गर्मी और लू की चपेट में है। आसमान से बरसती आग के बीच अब जिले के शहरी और ग्रामीण इलाकों में पेयजल (पीने के पानी) का संकट गहराने लगा है। इस गंभीर स्थिति को देखते हुए आज जलदाय विभाग (PHED) के मुख्य कार्यालय में प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों और अभियंताओं की एक अति-आवश्यक और उच्च स्तरीय समीक्षा बैठक आयोजित की गई। बैठक का मुख्य उद्देश्य जिले के कोने-कोने तक पेयजल आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित करना और पानी की किल्लत से जूझ रहे नागरिकों को तुरंत राहत पहुंचाना था।

नहरबंदी और कम आवक ने बढ़ाई मुसीबत

बैठक के दौरान अधिकारियों ने स्वीकार किया कि इस बार पेयजल संकट गहराने के पीछे मुख्य कारण पंजाब से आने वाली नहरों में आंशिक नहरबंदी और मुख्य जल स्रोतों में पानी की कम आवक है। इसके चलते डिग्गियों और वाटर वर्क्स के स्टोरेज टैंकों में पानी का स्तर लगातार गिर रहा है। ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों की कई ढाणियों और गांवों में, जो पूरी तरह से नहरी पानी पर निर्भर हैं, पिछले कई दिनों से पेयजल की सुचारू सप्लाई नहीं हो पा रही है। पानी की कमी के कारण ग्रामीणों को मजबूरन महंगे दामों पर निजी टैंकर मंगवाने पड़ रहे हैं, जिससे उनकी जेब पर भारी असर पड़ रहा है।

ढाणियों और गांवों में टैंकरों से होगी फ्री वाटर सप्लाई

समीक्षा बैठक में जलदाय विभाग के अधीक्षण अभियंता (SE) ने निर्देश दिए कि पानी की कमी से जूझ रहे किसी भी नागरिक को परेशान नहीं होने दिया जाएगा। विभाग ने एक बड़ा फैसला लेते हुए तय किया है कि जिन दूर-दराज की ढाणियों, गांवों और टेल (अंतिम छोर) पर स्थित बस्तियों में पाइपलाइन के जरिए पानी नहीं पहुंच पा रहा है, वहां आज से ही तुरंत प्रभाव से सरकारी और अनुबंधित टैंकरों के माध्यम से वैकल्पिक पेयजल आपूर्ति शुरू की जाएगी। इसके लिए प्रत्येक ब्लॉक के अधिशासी अभियंताओं (EE) को अपने-अपने क्षेत्र में प्रभावित इलाकों को चिन्हित कर तुरंत टैंकर भिजवाने की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है।

पानी का दुरुपयोग करने वालों पर होगी सख्त कार्रवाई

एक तरफ जहां लोग बूंद-बूंद पानी के लिए तरस रहे हैं, वहीं दूसरी तरफ शहरों और कस्बों में पानी की बर्बादी की शिकायतें भी सामने आ रही हैं। इस पर कड़ा रुख अपनाते हुए विभाग ने ‘वॉटर वेस्टेज एक्ट’ के तहत सख्त कदम उठाने का फैसला किया है।

• विशेष टीमों का गठन: विभाग ने वार्ड और मोहल्ला स्तर पर विशेष निरीक्षण टीमों का गठन किया है।

• चालान की कार्रवाई: ये टीमें सुबह और शाम के समय औचक निरीक्षण करेंगी। यदि कोई व्यक्ति पाइप लगाकर गाड़ियां धोता, सड़कों पर पानी छिड़कता या पानी की मोटर का अवैध उपयोग करते हुए पाया गया, तो उसका कनेक्शन काटने के साथ-साथ भारी जुर्माने का चालान काटा जाएगा।

Water Crisis Meeting: PHED to Deploy Tankers in Rural Areas, Heavy Fines for Water Wastage

Sri Ganganagar. With the onset of mid-May, Sri Ganganagar district has been reeling under an intense heatwave. Amidst the soaring temperatures, a severe drinking water crisis has begun to hit various urban and rural pockets of the district. In view of this critical situation, a high-level review meeting of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) was convened today at the head office. The core objective of the meeting was to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to every corner of the district and to provide immediate relief to citizens facing acute water scarcity.

Canal Closure Escalates the Crisis

During the meeting, officials acknowledged that the primary reason behind the intensifying water crisis is the partial canal closure (Naharbandi) from Punjab and the low inflow of water into the main reservoirs. Consequently, the water levels in local storage tanks and waterworks are depleting rapidly. Several remote hamlets (Dhanis) and villages, which are entirely dependent on canal water, have not received a regular supply for days. This shortage has forced rural residents to purchase expensive water from private tankers, posing a heavy financial burden on them.

Free Water Tankers for Affected Villages and Dhanis

Taking a major decision to alleviate the public’s plight, the Superintending Engineer (SE) of PHED directed that no citizen should suffer due to the lack of water. The department has resolved that in all remote hamlets, villages, and tail-end settlements where pipeline supply is disrupted, alternative water distribution through government-contracted tankers will be initiated with immediate effect. Executive Engineers (EEs) of respective blocks have been tasked with identifying water-stressed zones and deploying tankers promptly.

Strict Crackdown on Water Wastage

While on one hand, people are struggling for every drop of water, instances of water wastage in urban and semi-urban localities have also come to light. Taking a tough stance, the department has decided to enforce strict measures under the Water Wastage Prevention guidelines.

• Formation of Special Squads: The department has constituted special inspection teams at the ward and neighborhood levels.

• Challan and Legal Action: These teams will conduct surprise checks during the peak morning and evening supply hours. Anyone found washing vehicles with hoses, splashing water on roads, or using illegal booster pumps will face immediate disconnection and heavy monetary penalties.
